Dining room through to a lounge. Mrs. Freeman is trying to create a co-ordinated look from a conservatory used as an eating area through to an open plan lounge where there is a sofa and antique chair that has been in the family for many years and is a treasured possession.

Here in the workshop, the reupholsterers will have ordered in the fabric, and now be ready to start work

All the old fabric is removed, then springs, and the old fillings until the furniture is right back to the wooden frame. At this stage any springs that need it are repaired or replaced.

On this frame a broken section is revealed. This is almost certainly making the sofa less comfortable. Time for a repair.

The first stage involves hessian cloth to provide a base on which to build the different layers. By this stage all the frame and spring repairs have been completed.

After many hours work the finished reupholstery job starts to appear. It will soon be time to phone the customer ready to arrange delivery.

At a convenient time, plumbs delivery staff arrive with the newly reupholstered furniture. Here you can see the padded covers being used for protection.

Wonderful to see the transformation that has taken place in the conservatory. The two wicker chairs at the back of the room match the sofa, being in the grape fabric. The dining chairs look terrific and match the reupholstered chair in the fuschia fabric.

Remarkable to look back now to the original home consultant visit. That conversation has led to a complete reupholstery renovation of Mrs Freeman’s mother’s chair. She decided to paint the woodwork white before Plumbs took the chair in for reupholstery. The end result is dramatic and she was delighted.
