We all have things that are special to us, that evoke fond memories and a connection to the past. Whether it’s a piece of jewellary or a childhood teddy bear, we try our best to keep them well preserved and looking their best. And the same can certainly be said for old furniture!
Browsing through our customer stories this morning, I am stunned at the amount of people who simply couldn’t part with beloved pieces of furniture that held a special meaning or fond attachment for them. Some of our customers speak of handed down furniture, like a nursing chair from a grandmother, or asuite that has stood the test of time and seen families grow up.
Furniture can have very personal and very nostalgic value to us, so it is only fitting that when it becomes tired or worn, that we give it the quality attention that it deserves. Re-upholstery is an ideal way to bring furniture, and cherished memories, back to life!
Take this amazing before/after transformation for example. Mrs Head purchased this suite from her American neighbours in 1962 and has been a place owith her for the last 40 years! With such sentimental attachment it has been a joy to give it a fresh new look so it can continue offering comfort and style in Mrs Head’s home.

We’ve completely re-newed Mrs Head’s suite with the addition of brand new legs, new springs, new cushions and an up to date soft chenille fabric, Carolina. Another satisfied customer!

When cash flow is at a lull it can sometimes feel like you’re stuck with the same old décor in your home. But you don’t need to spend a fortune to make a quick and easy difference to a room.
As I was nosing around the Plumbs archives this morning (my first port of call for home décor inspiration), I stumbled across this great kitchen transformation.
Sometimes all it takes for a fresh new look, is a nice new fabric and a couple of colourful trinkets – hardly a break the bank exercise!

This roller blind, made in Deck Chair Stripe – Rouge fabric, gives this kitchen a whole new feel. The red and white stripes promote the perfect colour scheme for this quaint country kitchen. Accented with red features and colourful flowers, these simple changes have really helped to bring the room to life.
Remember, you don’t have to go to great lengths in giving your home a complete makeover. Often you can give your room a great new look and feel simply by adding an accent colour, or introducing various textures and textiles. Give it a go – you’ll be surprised with the results!

There are many things we associate with the build up to Christmas. First come the dazzling shop windows, next the office party invites, perhaps even the odd jingle bells may start to be heard. For me it’s the adverts on TV! Every year Coca-Cola does not fail to insight festive spirit when their iconic advert plays out during an episode of Coronation Street, for example!
Another clear sign that Christmas is coming is the abundance of commercials advertising the benefits of buying a new sofa. This time of year we are inundated with suggestions of buying a new sofa just in time for Christmas. But is buying new our only option to true comfort this festive season?
Of course not! Consider this. You’ve shopped around for the perfect sofa or suite to fit your home. It’s the right size, the right shape, the right style. Over time the fabric has become worn or your taste has altered. It happens! No problem.
