A Plumbs Tale

Once upon a time on a dark wintry night a fairy princess in the guise of Plumbs consultant Jan Bone came to sprinkle some fairy dust on a tired old suite. She worked her magic with samples of every colour and finally with a flourish produced the cardinal rouge velvet. Yes please! Cried the owner and off Jan went in her four wheeled vehicle.

Soon prince Alan arrived with his trusty tape measure and then he too disappeared sending measurements across the land.

Many a long month went by as plasterers and painters prepared the room ready for the arrival of the red velvet and Plumbs were asked to wait” just a little while longer” so that everything could be right for the occasion. And then the day arrived, and so did Jan Bone carrying her wondrous boxes of covers.

With a flick and a pull the old suite was transformed into something magical – a suite to be proud of – a blaze of colour and just as comfortable as it had always been. And the moral of the story? ” always judge a suite by it’s Plumbs cover”

Mrs. Bevan – Portsmouth

To celebrate Plumbs 50^th anniversary during 2010, customers got the opportunity to enter a special prize draw to win a luxury cruise.

The fabulous all inclusive prize including a balcony stateroom took in the sights of Barcelona, Rome, Florence, Monte Carlo, Catagena and Cadiz. Every Plumbs customer who placed an order before 30^th June was eligible to enter.

The 14 night cruise for 2 people was eventually won by Mrs. Sue Oswell from Aylesbury in Berkshire. Sue said, “So many people have said that they didn’t believe these prizes were ever won.” Well the Plumbs prize of a cruise certainly was won by a delighted Mrs. Oswell!

She remarked, “My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our cruise aboard the P&O Oceana. The food was excellent as was the variety of activities and entertainment onboard.”

Not only had Mrs. Oswell won the cruise but had also been thrilled with new furniture covers from Plumbs. She wrote, “I’m very happy with the way your covers have drawn together the décor in my sitting room and with their quality and the service I received.”

Other prizes included luxury curtains, ottomans, hand tailored throws, Plumbs accessory vouchers and Marks & Spencer vouchers. Congratulations to all of our 50 prize winners and a special congratulations to Mrs. Oswell from everyone at Plumbs!

As you can imagine we find all sorts of things down the back of furniture as we talked about in our previous post, “The Weird and The Wonderful – What’s down your sofa?” But I couldn’t resist adding another customer story that we recently received a letter about here at Head Office.

Mrs Reeve wrote to us to not only let us know how thrilled she was with her reupholstery, but also to say how delighted she was when her technical designer rang to say he had found her wedding ring that had been missing for 8 years down the wing of her arm chair.

Mrs Reeve said “We’ve had our furniture for about 25 years, it’s part of the family. I was thrilled when my chairs and settee were returned looking and feeling as good as new. The highlight of my story though was when Mr Marsh (the technical designer) returned a lost wedding ring after eight years!”

She also commented on the “friendly and professional manner” of the Plumbs home consultant. “He let the fabric do the talking and wasn’t pushy in his sell. It was wonderful to find a firm that were very professional from start to finish with good ‘old fashioned’ service. Well Done!”

Just a line to thank Plumbs for the wonderful, professional job done by you on reupholstering my settees. I could hardly believe that these were my same pieces of furniture! Both settees are over 15 years old and both had suffered badly from the claws of my two cats!

One settee was down to the wood in places and the frame was rickety. My bed settee is such an unusual shape I hardly dared hope that it would look good. However, they both look amazing! They are better than new, and I’ve had so many compliments regarding them.

Not only does the fabric look great and feel luxurious, but the replacement seat cushion and upholstering have made them far more supportive and comfortable than before.
