As a Plumbs Home Consultant, my days are spent visiting customers in their own home, providing advice on...reupholstery, loose covers and curtains. Some days are spent fitting, others measuring but there is always a real sense of pleasure at meeting new people. I love my Loose Covers!
When I moved into my new house, after many years of working in Architectural Practices, I had firm ideas of the types of furniture that I wanted to have around me. However, when it came to searching for sofas that was a different matter. Clean, crisp lines is what I had drummed in to me for years. So when I saw the 2 and 3 seater sofas in Truro, I knew I had found the right ones. I ordered them that very same day, but I had to wait for them to be made and delivered - approximately 14 weeks later I had at last something to sit on instead of my son's beanbag! However, things change and colour schemes come and go, I tried to resist the urge to decorate, but in the end I succumbed to the more neutral cream and beige walls, and with a young son, chocolate brown carpet! The only big BUT now was that my beloved architecturally designed sofas in airforce blue/grey suede did not match at all. Oh how the stomach turns when you have spent money on redecoration and you do not get the whole new look you so wanted! What could I do, but help was at hand in the shape of my mum reminding me about the covers she had ordered many many years ago when we lived on the farm. So without further hesitation I ran upstairs to my trusty computer and searched for 'Plumbs'. Up came their website which was full of interesting features and was easy to use. I placed a reservation for a home visit and received a telephone call the next day. My home consultant was extremely helpful and together we managed to find the perfect material in colour and design to match in with the new decor. Good old Plumbs some 40 years after my mum first used them, came to my rescue - I won't forget you!

Hurrah!
All agreed dates and times were adhered to, which I feel is very important - Hurrah! The calls made on the day of collection and delivery were a bonus as I was given a time slot so knew exactly when they would arrive, great stuff. They were pleasant and courteous too and samples of the material used for the re-upholstery were delivered to me the day after ordering. The whole "caring" ethos Plumbs has, gives a sense of customer involvement, which made us feel we were dealing with professionals. The consultant did not put us under any pressure and provided just sound, impartial and knowledgeable advice. When the consultant visited it was like a friend dropping round for a chat and when I asked to retain a piece or two of the old fabric so I could recall what it was like when my mum owned it (eccentric I know), Plumbs had no problem and did not burst out laughing at so obtuse a request. The fabric was duly returned with the "new" sofa and I feel this might not have been the case with other companies.

Wow! An amazing transformation
While our loose covers were being fitted, we ordered some curtains and cushions to match a new carpet, which still needed to be fitted after some decoration. Due to unforeseen circumstances there was a delay in finishing off our decorating, which then put back the fitting of the new carpet. We received the curtains and cushions (beginning of April 2008) way before everything else was finished off. They were only unpacked today (4th June 2008), to my great delight and relief, they are un-creased and just perfect. I am totally delighted with Plumbs and my home consultant was so helpful and pleasant to have in my home.
