Inventive ways to use wallpaper

Do you have a room you love but wish to inject some personality into it?  By getting creative with your decorative accessories and thinking outside of the box when it comes to pattern you can create a look that is truly unique to you.

Beautiful patterned wallpaper is a great way to add colour and interest to a room.  Here are some different ways you can use the design you love….

Inside a bookcase

Make your favourite books, picture frames and pieces of art pop against a bold colour or pattern.  This is also a great way to add your own style to a rented home without having to touch the walls.

On a staircase

Wallpapering the steps of your staircase will turn them into a feature as people enter your home.  It may be best to leave walls quite neutral for balance, and it’s important to consider whether you would like the same pattern all the way up or a mix of wallpapers in in a similar colour palette.

The fridge

This look may not be practical for everyone, but it can be a way of transforming a dull fridge you don’t like into a stand out piece in your kitchen.

A piece of Art

If you have leftover pieces of wallpaper lying around the house then this is a great way to use them up.  You can have fun playing with different patterns and colours and also choosing the frame itself.  These pretty French style wallpapers look great with the ornate frames.

Update an old dresser

One of the most popular ways of updating an old dresser or chest of drawers is to add a bold colourful pattern.  You can be quite creative when deciding where to place your wallpaper.  Covering the face of your drawers is good idea if you’re not happy with the current finish, or for a more secret splash of pattern, why not add paper to the drawer insides or sides like the ones below.

5 Ways to get your family into your unloved conservatory this weekend

Let the games begin

Every family will have stacks of board games that only see the light at Christmas so why not try to recreate that festive cheer this weekend?  This is a great way to keep the whole family entertained, especially if the weather isn’t looking too good.

 Family Board Games

Dining Out (well almost out)

Make use of the summer sunshine and eat overlooking the garden.  This is a nice change if your family is used to eating in the kitchen or dining room.  To make it even more effective, why not turn your conservatory into a mini ‘restaurant’ for the night with music and candles?  This is not only a lot cheaper than eating out but it will also encourage conversation and laughter at the dinner table.

Star Gazing

Make use of the windows in you conservatory and turn it into an observatory for the night!  Grab blankets and snacks and snuggle under the stars.  This can be a great way to encourage children to take an interest in science.

Conservatories are great spaces for carrying out your hobbies and crafts, as there’s lots of light and the views of the garden will hopefully inspire your creativity.  If like most families you all have different hobbies, then why not try a new hobby together such as mug painting or building a photo album of your family’s favourite holidays and memories?

Movie Night/Day

Get the popcorn ready and get comfy! A film night is a great way to bring your family closer together.  You could introduce younger children to films you watched as a child that they may have not seen yet.

A conservatory is a great asset to have so it’s important that we remember just how useful they can be! By showing your conservatory a little love and attention, you can easily make it feel just as useful as any other room in your home. If you would like any help updating the furniture in your conservatory ready for those fun weekends, then contact Plumbs today for a free no obligation quotation on all our conservatory furniture replacement cushions & covers

Lights, Camera, Action!

It’s been an extremely exciting week here at Plumbs as we have just become the proud sponsors of ITV Encore!

After a few busy months of prepping, filming, and editing our adverts, we finally got to see them live on Tuesday (7th July).  In total we created 9 ten second ads which will run on ITV’s newest channel ITV Encore (Sky channel 123). This is a great place to see all your favourite ITV dramas

The sponsorship adverts are a fun way for us to really show the benefits of choosing Plumbs, and are a bit of light hearted relief from any intense drama!  The 3 main themes we chose were; wash-ability, choice of fabrics and our in-home service.

Here are a few behind the scenes snaps and a video from the days filming in Ilkley, Yorkshire…

We had a great day filming and really hope you’ll enjoy the adverts as much as we do!
