How to introduce neo mint into your home for 2020

It’s official: the colour of 2020 will be neo mint green. According to trend forecaster WGSN, the clean, futuristic tone will be all the rage next year.

As we ring in the new decade, watch out for this minty cool colour palette cropping up in a home near you. Or better yet, get ahead of the trend and start using this eye catching colour in your living room right now.

Read on to see how you can add 2020’s biggest colour trend to your décor.

Adding neo mint to your décor

In contrast to the bright, powerful jewel tones that reigned supreme during the 2010s, neo mint is soft enough to be used as the main colour in your home.

A true all-rounder, neo mint can be used as minimally or as maximally as you like. Add to living spaces for a calming look, introduce to bathrooms to convey cleanliness or pair alongside metallics – especially gold, copper and rose gold – for a funky space-age vibe.

Top tip: Not sure how to get started? Follow the top interior designers and start small. You could gradually ease neo mint into your lounge, for instance, by styling cushions in this shade.

Pairing neo mint with your accessories

With neo mint as your base, you are free to experiment. Pair a neo mint wall with deep seafoam blues and greens, or even navy or forest green.

If this is too “matchy-matchy” for your tastes, try introducing orange and buttercup yellows. While they might not be your typical complementary colours, pairing equally fresh shades doubles up the effortlessly cool aesthetic.

For something more subdued, use light greys or white as a base colour and neo mint as an accent on furniture, curtains or décor. Salmon, dusty rose and even tangerine are all daring options that can really elevate a room.
