Plumbs Announce the Launch of New Mobile website

National Re-upholstery and Loose Covers Company Plumbs have launched a mobile friendly version of their flagship website, to provide instant, easy access for their customers.

Family-run re-upholstery and loose covers specialists Plumbs have announced the launch of their brand new mobile website, fully optimised for i-phone and smartphone users. Established for over 50 years, Plumbs are no strangers to moving with the times, utilising growing technologies to bring information to their customers easily and efficiently.

The optimised site comes as a result from the latest statistics in mobile internet usage. Simon Blackburn, Online Marketing Manager for Plumbs, explains more:

“With the increase in mobile internet users and searchers over the last year, and Microsoft predicting mobile internet to overtake desktop internet usage by 2014, we felt that now is the time to rethink our site visitors’ overall experience. Our own research confirmed that xx% of site visitors accessed the Plumbs website via a mobile device, so we have created a specifically tailored site to help provide easy access to our core information for users of i-phones and smartphones."

The new mobile site is a compact version of the company’s main flagship website, with a new mobile-optimised layout for easier navigation. The site retains its core elements, including information about the company’s three core products: Loose Covers, Re-upholstery and Curtains, and their unique in-home consultancy service. Site visitors can still browse the vast range of fabrics, made easier by the image scroll feature in i-phones and smartphones, with the ability to easily zoom in and out of product images.

The site also makes used of GPS technology, with a function to search for a local home consultant, making it quick and easy for site visitors to access information about the local service provided in their area. The use of an ever present click-to-call button makes it as easy as possible for customers to request a home visit.

The mobile website can be accessed at, though the site will automatically appear when accessing Plumbs on mobile phone devices. The option to divert back to the desktop version of the site is given, and users of larger mobile devices such as I-pads will also be shown the desktop version.

Simon Blackburn expresses his hopes for the response to the new site:

“What we want the mobile site to achieve is simply to give people all of the information they are looking for in a quick and concise way. We want people to be able to find exactly what they are looking for and make it as easy as possible for customers to take advantage of their free home consultation and book a visit with one of our local consultants.”

As well as making information more easily accessible to site visitors, Plumbs are also utilising mobile technology in other areas of the business. Alongside the works to the new mobile site, Plumbs have been developing a helpful app for their home consultants to make managing their appointments even easier. The company hope to further improve the efficiency of their in home service with the introduction of the new tool.
