Renowned for her medal-winning performances at the Paralympics, her brilliant turn on Strictly Come Dancing, and her exceptional advocacy for disability awareness, Lauren Steadman MBE is a truly remarkable woman. So we were especially delighted to discover that Lauren also champions breathing new life into the furniture you love. When her much-loved sofa and loveseat began to show signs of wear, she knew that an upcycle would be the perfect solution.

The furniture, originally belonging to Lauren’s parents, had enjoyed over ten years of everyday lounging, yet the frames remained in excellent condition. Combined with life alongside Lauren’s two lovely dogs, who adore nothing more than curling up for a cuddle on the sofa, machine-washable sofa covers felt like a wonderfully practical way to refresh the pieces and give them a whole new look. During a free home visit with her local Plumbs consultant, Alan, Lauren was able to design every detail of her new covers, from fabric choices through to finishing touches such as piping options and scatter cushions.

Drawing inspiration from the red London bricks of her chimney stack, Lauren chose a beautiful terracotta shade from our bestselling Cardinal collection, bringing warmth and velvety comfort into her room. To complement this, the loveseat was dressed in Holcombe – Blush, with its delicate narrow stripe adding character and depth to the overall palette. Once the fabrics were selected, Alan took all the necessary measurements, ready for our team to craft Lauren’s bespoke sofa solution.

On fitting day, Alan returned to transform Lauren’s grey sofa and chair into something truly special and personal. The designs worked harmoniously together, creating a look that felt both on-trend and timeless, while preserving the comfort and familiarity of furniture she already loved. And with a machine-washable finish, the whole family could relax and enjoy the new look with ease. Most importantly of all, Lauren was thrilled with her suite’s transformation.
