Be inspired by this real home transformation
Sophie Page
Sophie is a great granddaughter of the founders of the business - so fabrics and furniture are almost part of her DNA! Her interests include home interiors and upcycling, and her favourite show to watch after work is The Repair Shop. Some of the topics she covers on the Plumbs blog include sofa reupholstery and furniture protection.

With 2 sofa cover looks to love, Maxine’s home offers double the inspiration for creating a show-stopping sofa

As an interior designer, Maxine Brady has a strong sense of style. A lover of the bright and bold, Maxine’s home is a joyful kaleidoscope of beautiful colour and design, whilst incorporating a variety of upcycled and sustainable features. When the time came to update her sofa, Plumbs was a perfect match. Made-to-measure sofa covers meant that Maxine could renew her sofa instead of replacing, and with over 800 fabrics to pick from, there was guaranteed to be something to suit her vision.

In our first visit to Maxine, she settled on our bestselling design, Bayswater in Lava, a peachy pink shade with orange undertones. This was the exact shade Maxine had been searching for, offering a bright look for her sofa that could be softened with neutral accessories or amplified with bolder colours, such as teal. The cotton-rich texture of the fabric also helped to create a fresh, breezy feel for the furniture that added to the new look. With a fabric chosen, Maxine’s local consultant, Katie, set to taking all the precise measurements required. For a sofa, there can often be over 100 measurements taken to guarantee our premium quality of fit and finish. Once crafted by our talented team in Lancashire, Katie returned to fit the covers and Maxine’s sofa was transformed.

A few years later, Maxine was working with us as a stylist, and fell head-over-heels for our plush yellow velvet design. Whilst her peach covers were still in brilliant condition, Maxine decided a second look for her sofa would be ideal for switching up the seasons, and adding even more flexibility to the style of her home. The vibrant sunshine shade of this fabric made her living room pop in a whole new way, and made her sofa the focal point of the room, whilst still being complemented by the other teal shades that had worked so well with her pink covers too. Perfectly encapsulating Maxine’s fun and colourful sense of design, it was a second success that could be interchanged as suited her, and both could be machine washed when required. Perfect for a pet owner!

With both furniture transformations, Maxine and her Instagram followers were utterly thrilled, and could hardly believe the transformation. Peachy pink or uplifting lemon – which is your favourite?
