Chair reupholstered in Eco Velvet – Mallard with sofa reupholstery in Astral – Teal.
When we buy a new suite with a settee and an armchair, the upholstery is often the same on each. However, when you come to reupholster, you can free your imagination and create a look that says more about you.
A contrasting yet complementary armchair reupholstery fabric will add flair and interest to any room. With more than 800 fabrics in our catalogue, there are plenty of check, floral, leaf, patterned and abstract materials to choose from. Here’s some inspiration.
Complementary armchair reupholstery fabrics – blue
Blue remains one of our most popular colours, from light marine tones to sultry midnight shades. Bayswater – Oxford Blue is a classic plain fabric suitable for sofa reupholstery that would look fabulous across your entire suite.
However, if you want to make a statement with your armchair reupholstery, there are several patterned fabrics that will look perfect alongside it. Take a look at Clementine – Wedgewood (a blue floral on white) and Medici – Wedgewood (a feathery blue leaf on white, seen above).
These armchair reupholstery fabrics are Polyester / a Polyester and Cotton blend, so they naturally shrug off stains and are easy to spot clean. The cushion covers are machine washable.
Complementary armchair reupholstery fabrics – purple
Bayswater – Amethyst is a bold and sophisticated armchair reupholstery fabric in Polyester and Cotton, one of 53 colours in this collection. It matches and contrasts well with Charlotte – Chintz, an elegant floral design that picks out a similar hue of purple.
Charlotte – Chintz is a cotton rich blend that is suitable for having made into matching curtains too, if you’re keen to finish off your look. We also like Mayfair Stripe – Mulberry, a handsome two-tone stripe in Polyester. Both Amethyst and Mulberry will pair beautifully with Mayfair Floral (pictured below) for a co-ordinated look.
Complementary armchair reupholstery fabrics – naturals
Arcadia – Stone is a soft and textured recycled armchair reupholstery fabric that complies with the Global Recycled Standard. A cotton blend, Arcadia is PFC Free and protected against mites and bacteria – and comes in some stunning plain fabrics. Stone is a stunning neutral shade that can be paired with a wide range of armchair reupholstery fabrics.
Let’s start with another natural though – you might like Arcadia Stone enough to match your armchair using a darker shade in the range – such as Arcadia Pebble. There are 4 in total to choose from.
Ashcott – Oyster is a pretty mini floral cotton rich fabric that can also be used to make your curtains if you want to finish off your look. Zodiac – Saffron is a tricolour geometric pattern in gold, light brown and dark brown.
Tweet & Bramble – Stone, a stunning linen-look print from Edinburgh Weavers with flowers, birds, leaves and fruit (seen below as sofa reupholstery).
